A scoreless pull away to Malaga is hardly a negative effect for Dortmund, but considering most of the chances to score goals, it probably won't leave the best taste in their teeth. Traveling away to Malaga for the first leg of these Champions League quarterfinal and returning house with a 0-0 sketch is not a negative effect for Dortmund. The effect will likely feel only a little less positive, once you understand how many wasted chances the Germans had to leave with three or four goals inside their pocket. Malaga got the game's first great opportunity In the 7th second as Javier Saviola sliced through the German security with comparative ease, before cutting within Ilkay GAndogan and sending his shot to the side netting. Saviola must have looked up however on the play as he had two teammates making runs as the Dortmund goal. Dortmund's first proper chance came in the 14th moment when Mario GAtze got behind the defensive line thanks a great header by Robert Lewandowski. GAtze broke one-on-one against Wilfredo Caballero but his picture was bad and it was a simple save yourself for the Malaga owner. GAtze missed on another good opportunity in the 18th minute after GAndogan cut left before sending the ball out to the unmarked GAtze on the best. Again Caballero was in the best place, shutting down the perspective and blocking GAtze's low picture along with his feet. A bit of a howler by Caballero in the minute almost offered the guide to Dortmund, however they were saved by a correct offside contact. Caballero's parried Lewandowski's header directly to the legs of Kevin Grosskreutz whose goal was disallowed thanks to Lewa being offside on the first header. Malaga defender Weligton was found the game's first yellow card in the 31st moment for bringing down Lewandowski just on the edge of the Malaga region. The card means Weligton will miss out the second leg in Germany. Marco Reus' future free kick was shot wide of the goal. Malaga settled down while the halftime neared and came extremely near grabbing the opening goal in the 42nd moment after gaining a large part kick. Jeremy Toulalan got free in your community and led a header on goal that was pushed around the post by Roman Weidenfeller having an excellent fishing save. Lewandowski missed a fantastic chance to put Dortmund in front in the XX moment after the Polish striker tucked and shanked a wide open shot from 10-yards in front of the Malaga target. When the focusing cross came in from the left, there was not a person in the ground that didn't think the goal was coming, that's how bad of a miss it was. Yet another missed chance for GAtze in the moment after he split up the Malaga protection and went onto a lovely ball from GAndogan. Caballero did a good work of limited GAtze's choices, however it still another bad effort from the German. Malaga responded with some great pressure and examined Weidenfeller again thanks to a tough shot from Isco at the the top of place. Manuel Iturra acquired a card for a tackle on Lewandowski in the 76th second which will see him stopped for the 2nd leg. Plenty of positives for Dortmund, besides their finishing, and they will feel decent in regards to the next leg back at the Westfalenstadion. Follow @SBNationSoccer on Facebook
