Steve Bruce: Radamel Falcao arrival won't affect Manchester United's Wayne ... - Express.co.uk

United were reported to have kickstarted negotiations to sign Falcao by paying a downpayment for the prolific Atletico Madrid frontman.

Falcao has a £50m release clause written into his contract, and he would be a massive coup if United got their hands on him.

Rooney's future has been the subject of frenzied speculation ever since he wasn't included in Sir Alex Ferguson's starting line-up for their 2-1 defeat against Real Madrid in the last 16 of the Champions League.

"People keep stirring it up and Sir Alex Ferguson keeps playing it down. I'm sure Wayne Rooney still has a big part to play.

"You wouldn't be surprised to see Manchester United sign [Falcao] because their greatest strength is the way they keep improving [the squad]."
