Newcastle United fan Barry Rogerson targeted a right hook at a police horse called Bud throughout violence following his team's 3-0 loss to loathed local opponents Sunderland on Sunday. The 45-year-old has told the Daily Mail he is now surviving in dread after his address and name were published on the internet by animal rights activists. He says the video of him that has been watched around the globe is deceptive, and that he only hit out in panic after the horse was spooked with a firecracker and charged at him. "At first I tried to obtain him away from me with my left hand and then I punched him with my right," Rogerson said. "It was pure panic. I really believe it made experience of the horse. WATCH THE EVENT BELOW "It was an instantaneous effect. The horse only came towards me and I reacted stupidly. "I apologise for this a' used to do perhaps not actually head out to attack a horse. Animals are loved by me. I have got three dogs and a fishpond." The horse was not hurt in the episode. Rogerson discussed the scarf he wore across his face wasn't there as an attempt to obscure his identity, but because a filling had dropped out of a front tooth.
