Roberto Mancini has questioned the attitude of his Manchester City players, questioning if it has been the equal of their Manchester United counterparts as his club prepared to give the Premier League name for their cross-town competitors. City's 3-1 defeat at White Hart Lane byAa Tottenham Hotspur group that made a remarkable statement about their ChampionsALeague credentials intended that UnitedAwill secure their 20th league championship with a property win over Aston VillaAon Monday evening. Mancini was as bewildered as much the others in north London on Sunday afternoon then surrendered a posture of comfort in the closing phases and as City failed to build on an early lead. Motivated by Gareth Bale and three very successful alternatives by AndrA Villas-Boas, Tottenham scored three goals in seven minutes to reignite a top-four desire that appeared to have passed. As Villas-Boas looked forward to Tottenham's remaining five matches, with the major one to come at Chelsea, Mancini was left to think about his players' wish, which he suggested had to be the situation as there was nothing to choose between them and United in technical terms. "We don't have a difference [to United]," said Mancini, the City manager. "The last two or three years a every time we've played United, we have played better, also when we have lost the overall game. We lost in the last moment [earlier in the season]. This past year we beat them easily. The reason there is a gap like currently [in the league] a probably there's more perspective, they wanted. They began the summer season and they wished to win after a year ago. There are lots of reasons why we lose but I repeat, they deserve to win it." Mancini was questioned whether he thought City had handed United the subject. "Sometimes we probably did," he replied. "IAthink the 13- or 15-point distance isn't reality because of this championship. They're not a much better team but because we lost a lot of points in games we probably did not deserve to get rid of they deserve to get this title. United won a lot of games in a row with goals and they deserve to get the name. "The race was finished three or four months ago. Will the Villa game be watched by me? IfAI am at home, why don't you? Nothing will be meant by it to us. We wished to win this championship. So what can we do? Only congratulations can be maybe said by us to them. You deserve to win it, when you win. YouAalways desire a bit of luck in football. It's like life.ABut they did not win by luck. They'd a much better attitude because they lost last year." Mancini appeared to review an old grievance when he spoke of United buying "some new players in summer time and they won lots of goals." He'd been determined to sign the striker Robin Van Persie from Arsenal, limited to the Dutchman to join United and provide 21 group goals so far this season. "I am unhappy because I love to gain the championship," Mancini included. "This was our target. I'm unhappy with the season because I want always the maximum. But we have yet another possiblity to win the FA Cup and I believe the FA Cup is very important. And we can take second place. Then every manager must be sacked.", if that is not good enough Villas-Boas highlighted Clint Dempsey's 75th moment equaliser as the turning point and he explained that his players' confidence had been renewed. "We still have to achieve our goals because of this time to be described as a full success," he explained. "Hopefully we're able to achieve it. We are in control because we have the game in hand but it's against Chelsea, and it is a hard game at Stamford Bridge."
